I have never had anxiety of being alone but since the head injury i get worked up when my fiance leaves to be with his family. I'm hoping its a chemical imbalance due to the impact i had. I had a TBI on September 6th, from a car accident. I fell asleep at the wheel. I was in a coma for 16 days. I had to learn everything over again. Walk, talk, shower, all of my motor skills and my equilibrium was off.
It was a life changing experience for me. I never heard of TBI until I had mine. I was lucky that my brain didn't swell and had to have brain surgery. If I had been any older, it would have been a lot harder for my rehabilitation. The judge told me that I would be totally disabled for the rest of my life.
I can't work a full-time job as I did before my injuries. But I help out a family who has a farm with everything that they need help with. Tara, Thank you for your share. I am so glad you did. I was hit by a GMC Envoy jogging on the sidewalk 11 years ago. Went up in air down on head hitting the sidewalk. I was told the blood in my brain from injury will always be there dissipated into just iron. Is that so? Sort of, you still have functioning and flowing blood in your brain, but the blood that was there as a result of the injury had to be reabsorbed at some point.
Blood is made out of red and white cells, plasma, and hemoglobin the iron containing compound. Hemoglobin is a large molecule that is much harder to absorb than the plasma made largely of water and the blood cells whose "lives" are fairly short anyway before being reabsorbed , so after the blood cells and plasma from the injury are reabsorbed, the hemoglobin sticks around for a bit longer before the body can process it. If a collection of blood is the cause, such as a subdural hematoma , surgery will be needed to remove the blood clot and stop the bleeding.
Antibiotics are used to treat infection and steroids may be used to decrease inflammation and swelling. A number of studies have examined the effects of midline shift on long-term outcomes. Since a midline shift happens due to bleeding and pressure, the amount of bleeding, the location of damage, and the overall level of pressure experienced by the brain are all important considerations. When the brain moves, this causes trauma to other structures as they are pulled and pushed out of their natural position.
