Side Quest. Best race car? What is the best beginner car to buy? There are also 2 view modes in B-Spec: race view, which displays the ongoing event via replay cameras, and monitor view, which displays a new screen. On this screen, players will see a map of the course and the positions of both their AI driver and the opponent cars, labeled as letters from "A" through "E", where the player's car will always be "F" In Championship events however, the player's car may receive a different letter depending on the position they qualify through practice mode in a championship race, i.

The same instructions that can be accessed on the race view screen can also be seen here, as well as the fast-forward controls, and a live-view diagram along the bottom that will show the distance between each car in meters. In GT5, A-spec and B-spec events are segregated, with B-spec events being longer in distance except for fixed length endurance events. The commands that can be given to the B-spec driver are to increase or decrease their pace done differently from GT4; the player can no longer select which pace to be used , as well an instruction to keep their pace, to overtake an opponent, or to pit in.

The player must also take care of the driver's situation their physical and mental strength, as well as their indicator if they're being "hot" or "cool". Each B-spec driver has their own speed which factors in their braking, cornering, and accuracy ratings , strength both physical and mental , personality, and experience ratings, which develop as they race; when they are first hired, the ratings and thus, the driver's class level start at low levels.

Like in GT4, live timings are available, however the ability to speed up races has been removed. In most non-endurance races, only one driver can be chosen; endurance events allows additional drivers to be used, in which they can take over a tired driver during a pit stop. Some Seasonal Events in GT5 exist that used the B-spec mode instead of the usual A-spec mode, including the Signature Edition event exclusive to buyers of the aforementioned version of the game.

Before we get into the more advanced things however, lets take care of the basics. The first thing you need to setup in B-Spec racing is your Driver. These are all very important, and will determine how your GT5 driver performs throughout his career.

Braking : In arcade racing games you might hardly touch the brake, but in GT5 the braking skill is very important for Bob. Cornering : Cornering and Braking go hand in hand. Spinning out is never a good thing, but if Bob takes a turn too sharply it will happen every time, costing you valuable seconds getting your car stabilized or back on the track.

The higher your Cornering skill, the faster Bob can take corners and improve his Driving Line throughout the course. Accuracy : Accuracy is your ability to stay on target. While Cornering will determine how fast you can take a corner, your Accuracy stat will determine how well you are following your Driving Line.

Strength : Strength determines just how long Bob can drive. The higher the Strength stat, the less likely Bob is to make mistakes. Mental Strength : Mental Strength is how tough Bob is mentally. Things like being stuck in a certain position for a long period, being lapped, getting into a crash, and how low your physical strength is getting all have an effect on your Mental Strength.

The lower your Mental Strength, the more likely you are to make mistakes like bumping into other drivers or spinning out in turns. Personality : The Personality trait determines how Bob acts while behind the wheel. A very Hot Bob will, in contrast, make more snap decisions and fly by the seat of his pants.

Experience : While not a stat you can change, Experience is very important. As you drive more cars, drive the tracks, and get used to racing overall, your experience will go up. Bob will take corners better, be more accurate in his driving line, and know when to pass others.
